King Hannah (with Veronica Everheart)
Linger Longer Lounge 6522 N 16th St #6, Phoenix, AZ, United StatesEnglish duo King Hannah's wry, singer-songwriter aesthetic evokes contemporaries like Phoebe Bridgers, Courtney Barnett, and Sharon van Etten (a featured collaborator on the band's second album), but their titles and lyrics make clear that they trace their influences to slice-of-life Americana observers like Neil Young and, yes, John Prine. There's a strange menace lurking behind...

L.A. Witch (with DAIISTAR)
Valley Bar 130 N. Central Ave., Phoenix, AZI mean, come on, look how cool L.A. WITCH are. They've got a goth bassist, the drummer is possibly a mermaid, and the frontwoman is some variety of biker-warrior-princess; they're like the girlband Village People. Big sludgy chords and droning, dispassionate vocals characterize their sound, which draws from shoegaze, punk, and metal but is decidedly, consciously, Rock Music (whatever that means these days). Whatever it is, DAIISTAR are caught up in it too, playing female-fronted retro-rock-and-roll, with a backing band of hip moustaches.
